Harding painted Adams, Wirt, Calhoun, Webster,Clay, all the judges of the Supreme Court including JohnMarshall, in fact most of the great men of the day, andwas their friend as well. He regarded his portrait of AmosLawrence as his best. The last work of his hand was aportrait of Gen. W. T. Sherman which was finished shortlybefore his death.
