The place where we stopped was about two milesfrom the sand hills. We accordingly dined, and letthe animals feed, and at 7 oclock, p. m., resumed ourmarch. Upon consultation, it was thought best forLeroux to leave a couple of hours in advance of thewagons with the train of pack-mules, and go as far asSamalaynca, a spring two miles beyond the hills, incase he could not find water nearer.
