King Erik was killed by the Danes outside the Cathedral in 1160. The Cathedral was commenced circa 1270, finally consecrated 1435, was almost completely destroyed by fire in 1702, was restored by Carl Hårleman and further restored between 1885 and 1893 by Helgo Zetterwall.
