Erbach, Company D, Second Battalion (Airborne), 501st Infantry, 101st Airborne Division; Scope and content: This eyewitness statement contains evidence of the actions of Staff Sergeant Joe R. Hooper, who distinguished himself on 21 February 1968 in the battle of Hue, Republic of Vietnam. As a result of this statement, and statements of others, Staff Sergeant Hooper was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. In an extraordinary occurrence, Staff Sergeant Clifford C. Sims of the same company earned the Congressional Medal of Honor on the same day.
