This diminution of velocity in the planets, as they recede from the fun, applies generally to all the planet-, from Mercury, which is the neareft, to Uranus, which is the moft remote; and it refillts from the laws which we (hall hereafter demondrate, that the mean veloc'ties of the planets are reciprocally as the fquare roots of their mean diltances from the fun.
