The road touches theextreme south end of this very lovely sheet of water, where is locatedNewbury station and the dock for the steamers which ply on thelake, so that tourists can walk directly from the station to the steamers 25 gaug-plank. As the road skirts the shores for some distance the islands,coves, points and bhiffs can be seen, with many a summer cottage, anda glimpse can be caught of the finely located Lakeview House on thewest shore. On the south, towering above, is Sunapee Mountain, ontlie side of which, far up and overlooking the whole lake, is Johnsonspopular house.
