The view taken in 1828, shows the Versailles, l’Opera or Versailles, l’Opera vers le Reservoir designed by the architect Gabriel for Louis XV and finished by Leroi. It was opened to celebrate the marriage of Louis XVI to Marie Antoinette. The hall is elliptical and the roof is a masterpiece of timber construction. The image was drawn by J Nash under the direction of A Pugin and engraved by Miss Byrne
