Birmingham Sound Reproducers were founded in 1932 in the West Midlands of England. Afyter WW2 they began making phonographs, eventually supplying the famous Dansette record players. By 1977 BSR were producing over 250,000 units a week; the majority of record changers installed in stereo systems during this era were manufactured by BSR. They made their last player in 1985, hit hard by the move to cassette technology. This vintage advert dates from 1970, and also illustrates the use of semi naked women in many adverts of the era to try and sell products to men.
