In this wheel the projections of therim are yieldingly held, or they may be withdrawn entirely from the surface or held locked in outermostposition. A sleeve fitted loosely on the hubbetween the flanges carries a looselyrotating wheel on which are pivotedthe inner ends of slidable arms, whoseouter ends are beveled and passthrough openings in the rim. Tofasten the sliding arms in either aninner or outer position a pin is passedtransversely through apertures inthe hub flanges and through one ofseveral apertures in the wheel onwhich the sliding arms are pivoted, the wheel being turned to theproper position before inserting the pin, while the passing of a pinthrough the hub flanges and an elongated aperture in the wheelrestricts the latter to a limited turning in either direction. 536.
