Scarab with the Throne Name of Amenhotep III ca. 1390–1353 New Kingdom The Throne name of Amenhotep III, Nebmaatre, is written from right to left on the base of this scarab. The first two hieroglyphs are a sun disk, Re, over a basket, neb (meaning "lord"). The third hieroglyph is a seated woman holding an ankh (meaning "life"). The curled ostrich feather on her head identifies the woman as Maat, the goddess of truth. This name is usually translated "the Lord of Truth is Re.".
