Besides giving a graphical repre-sentation and profile of the line, it locates and briefly describes all the trussbridges, roundhouses, turntables, coaling and water stations, and a recordof the rails, being intended to include such physical features as pertainespecially to the track and operating departments. There, is also given inone corner of the sheet a geographical map of the division on a small charts are corrected once a year and new sets of blue prints are made,which are framed under glass and hung in the office, or cut into strips and 446 TRACK RECORDS, REPORTS AND ACCOUNTS. 447 folded for the pocket. The sheets are ahout 34 x 52 ins. inside the borderlines. The top line gives the limits of the track sections, with the number andlength of same. The next line gives the miles, a vertical line, being ruledacross the chart at each mile. Then comes the alinement, showing the de-gree of each curve. Below this is shown the geography, the railway be-ing indicated by a straight line, all bridges, road crossings, sidings andspur tracks, buildings, etc., plotted on, and particulars of spans, gradesof spurs, capacity of roundhouses, etc., noted. The township and otherboundaries are also marked. Under this is a profile, with bridges markedand described, and elevations and rate of grade in feet per mile also profile is broken, as required, to keep it below the plan.
