The demand for small weddings continues good and the social calendar for the coming weeks contains an unusually large number of society functions of every description. Various Notes. Much interest has attached to the active rumors of the erection of one or two large hotels in this city. Last week settled the fact that at least one new hotel is to be built at a cost of $3,500,- 000. The site chosen will include the store occupied for several years by Smith the Florist, at 25 Washington street. Louis Rioles is having a small frame greenhouse erected at 133 Gray street. The November exhibition of the Rhode Island Horticultural Society will be held at the Narragansett hotel No- vember 13 and 14. Johnston Bros., Dorrance street, had a large order of American Beauty roses for parties in New York last week, which they delivered by special mes- senger. Joseph E. Koppelman was in New York and vicinity several days last week, looking for novelties as well as regular goods. Alexander H. Johnson left Wednes- day, November 5, for Minneapolis to attend the first national convention of the American Legion. William E. Bowers made an automo- bile trip through Connecticut last week on business. Charles Smith visited Worcester and vicinity last week on business for the Eastern Wreath Co., of this city.
