American Cliff Swallows, Petrochelidon pyrrhonota, gather mud from a muddy depression in a field for nest building. These birds can usually be found building nests and raising young under bridges and on dams. They like concrete construction, which the mud readily adheres to, or unpainted wood. They attach mud on a vertical wall and build nests in large colonies. The nests are conical in shape. Oklahoma, USA.
