Shops in Charmouth For a village of less than 2000 inhabitants, Charmouth has a surprisingly wide range of shops, including a Post Office, butcher, chemist, two food stores, two hairdressers, a camping and caravan shop, a newsagent/hardware store, gift shops, a garden shop, a clothes shop and two fossil shops. Charmouth has a great deal available to visitors and residents alike. The village has largely avoided the tendancy of coastal villages to build huge developments to cater for tourism, and as a result has managed to maintain a friendly, traditional village feel. That friendliness extends to the villagers and local businesses and there is a general air of relaxed hospitality, a willingness to help and a welcoming warmness that derives from being in a place where life is good.
