Wiegand's Sous Co., has taken a position with Bertermann Bros. Co. M. Alexander, of Lion & Co., and H. D. Crowell, of S. S. Pennock-Mee- hau Co., have been calling on the trade. C. R. G. KANSAS CITY. The Market. Business last week was far beyond expectations, on account of Valentine's day. It was said that instead of the mailmen carrying valentines, it was the florist who did so. It seemed that everything was needed to meet the de- mand, from small pot plants to cut flowers and large pot plants. Basket work was also in great demand. ' It seemed that the married people remem- bered that their helpmates were alive and needed a valentine as well as when they were single. The arrival of Lent seems to have little effect on the market. Roses are scarce and all stock is cleaned up quickly at good prices. American Beauties are a little more plentiful, but the prices seem to have slightly ad- vanced. The Killarneys and Rich- monds have improved considerably in quality. Bulb stock is becoming more plentiful. Carnations are taking a backward step in price, as they are coming in fast on account of the sun- shiny weather. The wearing of white flowers on Fri- day, February 14, in memory of Cap- tain Scott and his four companions who perished in the Antarctic storm, made a large run of single flower sales.
