An early matchlock musket with musket rest, Nuremberg, dated 1568. Heavy octagonal barrel in 18 mm calibre with a cut tube rear sight cut on the barrel. The top of the barrel bears the Nuremberg proof mark and two additional Nuremberg marks along with the year "1568". Side-mounted pan with a cut cover and curved flash guard. Lightly engraved matchlock with a cut trigger bar. Blackened walnut stock (worm damage in places) with a curved butt and original suspension hook. Original ramrod with iron tip and interior thread.
