A 19th century illustration and description of a Also previously known as a Mastodonsaurus, meaning “breast tooth lizard”.. They were primitive type of giant tetrapod , allied to modern crocodiles whose fossils have been found in the UK and Europe, measuring around 6 feet in length. They lived approximately 240 million years ago. and have been likened to the salamander .
