It was decided to hold next years show atLancaster on August 2, 3, 4, and 6. The twelveretiring members of the Council were re-elected. Nearly every speaker at the meeting referredin terms of warm appreciation to the excellentservices given to the Society by the secretary, Bohane, and at the end of tire meeting areiolution that an honorarium of £100 shouldbe given to Mr. Bohane and £25 for distributionamongst his staff was proposed and carried jurkeys for Christmas Fattening, The season is now here when those who supplyfattened birds for the Christinas markets mustcommence that special feeding which the birdsrequire in order that they may appear to the bestadvantage, and, as a result of this, realise thehighest possible price. At one time turkey rearersused to pay but little attention to their nock, andthose which were to tie bred from were selectedin a haphazard way; and when the young birdswere growing, and looked the reverse of pro-mising, their owners trusted to the few weeksspecial feeding before they were killed to convertthem into fine plump birds. Year after year thebirds disappointed them, and then they found out,by comparing notes with those who produced finebirds, which at all times command satisfactoryprices, that their stock birds were the cause offailure.
