A splendid chiselled Indian shield, Jaipur, end of the 19th century. A slightly cambered shield. The entire surface is cut steel with rich gold and silver inlay. The centre bears the coat of arms of the Maharaja of Jaipur with the God Vishnu in a Sun Burst. There are four additional gods between the flower-shaped brass umbos, with a succession of nine surrounding circular cartouches bearing Hindi inscriptions. The surface is sealed with clear lacquer. On the back are four suspension rings with straps, a fist cushion (damaged), and brocaded lining sewnto the rim,
