Bischweiler (6,531 inhabitants), 3 miles to the south-east, on the Moder, has manufactories, and so has Niederhronn (2,830 inhabitants), to the north-west, a charming town, much frequented on account of its mineral springs. Close by are the villages of Worth, Heichshofen (2,862 inhabitants), and Froschweiler, near which MacMahon's army was overthrown in 1870 after a desperate resistance.
