UK Weather: At the end of a bright and sunny but cold day a ‘murmuration' of thousands of starlings fly in at sunset to settle for the night on the cast iron legs of the Victorian seaside pier at Aberystwyth on the west wales coast UK. The nightly roost in Aberystwyth is one of only three urban roosts in the UK and draws a regular crowd of onlookers and photographers every evening Despite their numbers here, the birds are on the RSPB's ‘red list' of endangered species of British birds.
