Hti.—Fritsohf and Pischon dynamo DYNAMO-ELECTRIC MACHINES. 231 The Fritsche and Pischon Dynamo is illustrated in Fig. 80, and is known as the dynamo, owing to the peculiar shape of the armature. The armature-bars consist of specially shapedpunchings of sheet-iron and sheet-copper, which areriveted together. They are long and thin, and areillustrated in Fig. 80a. The punchings are solderedand riveted at the top and bottom to the speciallyshaped brass castings A and B. Copper bars arescrewed on to the castings A, which are then turnedoff on the circumference and serve as commutator-blocks. As the armature-loops are connected inseries, two sets of brushes only are required. Thelower castings B are mortised on both sides, andby this means the whole armature is clamped to-gether with strong cast-iron hubs, C, which havebrass end-rings, A in order to magnetically insu-late the hub from the armature-bars. Pressed-board uisulation, E, is used between the ring D andthe armature-spokes.
