Water is gene-rally easily recognised ; rivers run their course along well-definedcurves, which are at once recognised on paper. In the photograph ofEiidersdorf, three bridges are to be seen, which of course clearlyindicate a river ; besides which there are the shadows of the trees,and, further along, a small boat. In winter time things are rather different. The fields may bewhite with snow, and the roads black with slush and mud, whilein the forest the paths may be still covered with snow, and
