NERVE FIBER, DRAWING

Illustration of the various nerve fibers contained in the cutaneous nerve. The largest fibers have a greater transmission speed and deal with the transmission of tactile sensations. The two smaller ones have a slower transmission speed. The smallest of the two transmits the sensation of raw pain, delayed pain and itchiness. The larger of the two transmits the sensation of immediate pain, like a sting.
