William Dean's Barnum Class 2-4-0s were introduced onto the Great Western in 1889. They had sandwhich frames and were extremely successful engines. Here we see No 3223 preparing to turn at Gresty Lane having worked into Crewe from Wellington. This example survived until 1936 the clan becoming extinct the following year.
