The old wooden pinisi, built from an old Dutch caravel type design, carry goods between the hundreds of Indonesian islands. They are built from hardwoods collected from the forests of Sulawsi Island and need constant maintenance. Large numbers of these colourful old boats can be seen in the Sunda Kalapa harbour in Jakarta, Indonesia. There are a number of stumpy-tailed cats that live on board the ships and come ashore when the ships are in harbour.
