The San Juan Diego shelter for migrants in Tultitlán, State of Mexico, Mexico is under siege from neighbors complaining of crime, over-crowding and drug use. The sanctuary will probably be forced to close in the near future. The Catholic Church-run haven is one of a series of stop-off points for migrants during their journey north through Mexico to the United States by freight train. Migrants live together at the shelter in extremely overcrowded conditions. Merlyn Elizabeth Melara Reyes, 17, is a young woman from Copan, Honduras traveling with male companions through Mexico and on to North Carolina in the USA.
