A clamp at either end, one catch-ing the upper and the other the lower half of the case, holds it closedwith a firm grasp. The needles and syringe are held in place bymetal clamps so that if the case be opened when wrong side up itscontents will not be spilled. The case is aseptic and may be kept soby occasional immersions in an antiseptic 4 6 Oh-dorH tology. — Local Application in Cancer.—Morphine combined with vase-line forms one of the best possible sedative applications in cases of ex-ternal malignant disease in which there is ulcerative breach of surfacewith continuous pain. The mode of prescribing the preparation runs asfollows : J?. Vaseline ]>ure i ounce Chloroform 2 drachms. Morphine 4 grains. Mix thoroughly and make into an ointment. Med. Brief. OH-DONT-OLOGY. Dont violate the sanctity of a private letter, even if you have a boneto pick with its author. Dont get confused on gall-stones following the copious ingestionof olive oil. They are probably stearine. Dont use bistoury for buboes. Evacuate the tumor with small tro-car and canula, so say Drs. Boileau and Jackson. Dont push chloroform anaesthesia beyond the small and immovablepupil. A sudden dilatation following is a danger signal. Dont let the nurse wash babys eyes directly after cleaning up the mother, unless the nurse
