Wm. Farrak SMrPH. POSTSCRIPT. Since this paper was written I have received two letters from Col. (formerlyCapt.) P. V. Fox, who ran the two sawmills and made all the bridges that were madeat Chattanooga during my term of service as chief engineer of the Army of theCumberland. His letters are dated August 19 and September 11, 1891, and are fullof interesting details as to his preparations for the work accomplished at BrownsFerry. In the first letter Colonel Fox says: I never heard that the place for the bridge was Browns Ferry until told by you(confidentially). * * * Colonel Stanley had nothing whatever to do withrunning the sawmills or making the boats.
