Preserved Stanier Black Five steam locomotive beneath the coaling stage at the works depot in Grosmont


The Stanier Black Five under the coaling hopper was built in Derby in 1944 and was designed by William Stanier for mixed traffic - passenger and freight. It's home depot was Lostock Hall Motive Power Depot - the name carried on the front buffer plate. It has carried the names Magpie (Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway) and Kenneth Aldcroft (Llangollen Railway).
