The bulb, from which the leaves and the flower-stem grow, Is situated from two to four inches below the surface of the POund. the bulb is covered with thin, membranous, brown coats. The Interior of the bulb is very similar to that of an onion, being composed of white fleshy layers, which can be separated from each other.
