THERE is every rea-son to suppose thatconsiderable interestwill attach to the Chi-cago Hussars, a regi-ment of volunteer cav-alry which has alreadysecured the honor ofacting as special es-cort to the officers ofthe exposition on alloccasions of Chicago Hussarsare comprised of gen-tlemen who own theirhorses and are rich enough to afford the luxuryof costly uniforms, expensive banquets andother delights dear to the mihtary heart. L. Brand, a prominent citizen, is the com-manding officer of the Hussars, and the rankand file numbers over a hundred gentlemen, who, when mounted on their dashing steedsand clad in their gorgeous trappings, present amost dazzling appearance. Chicago at present. 258 enjoys the distinction of being the only city ofthe United States possessing a volunteer cav-alry regiment. The Hussars are shortly toerect, at some advantageous point on the Southside convenient to the boulevard, the finestclub-house and armory in America. This willinclude a riding ring, perfect in appointmentsand over 500 feet in circumference. The ap-pointments include one hundred box stalls anda balcony seating fifteen hundred spectators, commanding a perfect view of the ring. Theprosperity of the Hussars and their appointmentby the director-general of the exposition as aspecial guard of honor, for properly escortingdistinguished visitors and officials about thecity during the continuance of the fair, makes amembership in their ranks a prize much to bedesired. The volunteer cavalrymen on themarch will be one of the sights of the city. Theregiments list of officers is as follows: Captain,E. L. Brand; First Lieutenant, M. L. C. Funk-houser; Second Lieu
