Slovenia, Julian Alps, Sella Vrata, WWI. The Vrata Saddle and Quota 2102 on the Krncica Mount, seen from Quota 1960 on Mount Vrsic. The Vrata Saddle was conquered on May 31st 1915, but it went on being exposed to the Austro-Hungarian snipers fire for the following 4 days. The Austrian snipers were positioned on Quota 2102. On June 3rd 1915 a group of Alpini volunteers of the Battaglione Susa conquered Quota 2102 after a risky climb in the night. A barbed wire tangle.
