Hilo, Hawaii -- (Left to right) Joint Task Force 5-0 Commanding General, Brig. Gen. Kenneth S. Hara, and Hawaii Governor David Ige, sit down with the JTF 5-0 staff for a situational update May 27, 2018, detailing the on-going National Guard response operations to the 24 lava fissures that have broken out since May 3. Since May 3 more than 200 National Guard Soldiers and Airman have been activated to support on-going support efforts in and around the Puna district on the island of Hawaii.
