This picture was taken in panne country. (In vogelenzang) The birch or birch fungus killer (Piptoporus betulinus) is a fungus from the family fomitopsidaceae that grows on birch trees. The fungus grows primarily on dead, but sometimes on living wood, eventually the tree will sheets. The fruiting bodies of the fungus to grow throughout the year, but a year old. Dried fruit bodies being stored for a long time. The dry mushroom cut hardly succeed. The dried mycelium is tough. The meat is sold under the name polyporus and is used by entomologists to prick on dried insects for collections. In nature, the dried mushrooms are eaten by the larvae of fungus beetle. Only the white fleece is also unpalatable for these beetles. Of the birch fungus is known to contain the substance for medicinal uses.
