Bristol Cathedral main western entrance doorway and circular Rose Window. The Cathedral grew out of the Norman Abbey founded in 1140 and came into prominence in 1542 with the formation of the new Diocese of Bristol. The western towers were added in the 19th century - 700 years of building.
