On November 7, 1798 a British contingent, under command of Lieutenant-general Sir Charles Stuart, landed in Adaya, in the municipality of Mercadal. After ten days of combat against a small Spanish military contingent commanded by Brigadier Juan Nepomuceno Quesada, the British took the island. Loss of Menorca. Engraving.
