= Cathedral Square Under a Grey Sky = Magnificent view with a contrasting grey sky against the line of small shops located on Cathedral Square in Rostov Velikiy with a background of beautiful churches and towers of the local kremlin, the former residence for princes and metropolitans in Medieval times. In the middle of this composition stands an impressive Assumption Cathedral (Uspensky Sobor) that was built in the second half of 16th century in Russian-Byzantine style and became a fine example of the applied art for all Kremlin structures. It’s huge bulbous silver cupolas (domes) can be seen from far away and stun visitors at the first sight. After the hustle and bustle of the Moscow city and its tourist attractions, you can enjoy some peace and quiet in a small provincial town. The shops usually close early on, and very few people can be seen on the streets after 7 pm. This can provide a safe haven of peace and tranquility for a Muscovite that is used to the noise of the big city.
