They built a great many all overthe coke regions of Pennsylvania, also inPocahontas and Bramwell, West continued in active business nearly tothe end of his life. He was a Democrat,and served on the city council. He mar-ried Elizabeth Wilhelm, born in East Lib-erty (Pittsburgh, East End), Pennsylvania,1850, died 1884. daughter of John and MaryWilhelm. John Wilhelm was born in Ger-manv, and settled in West Newton, Penn-sylvania with his parents. He marriedthere, and prior to the civil war came toConnellsville, where he built the YoughHouse, and was the proprietor for severalyears. Later he sold out and built a brickhouse on East Main street, where Lytlesdrug store now is, which was consideredthe best house in the town at that time. Hewas a pioneer in the manufacture of fire-brick in this
