Vaginal wall prolapse. Close up of the genitals of a 42-year-old woman with a vaginal wall prolapse. This condition occurs when the pelvic muscles supporting the vagina have weakened (usually due to childbirth), causing the walls to collapse and protrude through the entrance to the vagina. Pelvic floor muscle exercises can help improve this condition, although surgery may be necessary.
