It is also known as the ambush bug or the leafhopper assassin bug. The Reduviidae true bugs that are terrestrial ambush predators. Non-predatory bugs in this family are blood sucking ectoparasites. This family is easy to recognize due to the narrow neck and prominent curved proboscis. The assassin bugs leave a painful stab and are considered pests in many areas around the world.
