This beautiful gull is very common on southern British shores and sometimes inland . It is a very strong flyer and an expert at gliding in strong winds . Defined by its grey wings flesh pink legs and red tipped lower yellow bill the adult usually nests on grass covered cliff ledges . Often scavenges in flocks following ploughs or fishing boats during net hauling or unloading their catch . It cries whines screams or gives a laugh like repetitive noise . Often a noise and mess nuisance to residential houses along the coast . Eats shellfish sandworms carrion other birds eggs and everybodies fish and chips given half a chance This one was after mine .
