The shoulder on the convex sideof the curve is raised and the other lowered, and the scapula of theraised side is conspicuously higher. The arm of the convex sidehangs farther from the side than the other. The rotation appear-ances are marked, and the sharp angles of the upper ribs are promi-nent in the lower part of the curve, while above the rotation is lessevident because there are only the transverse processes of thecervical vertebrae to make a projection. The trunk is displaced tothe side of the convexity of the lateral Fig. 52.—-Left Dorsolx»ibar Scoliosis. COMPOUND STRUCTURAL CURVES 67 COMPOUND STRUCTURAL CURVES The pictures of compound curves cannot, of course, be as simpleor uniform as those of the simple types. A right dorsal left lumbarcurve, for example, will present a combination of the appearancesdescribed in both dorsal and lumbar curves; a right cervicodorsal leftdorsolumbar, the sum of the pictures of the two factors.
