A 1935 pattern Japanese army officer katana, Officer's sword in Shin-gunto mounts. Handle wrapped with brown cloth tape over white ray skin. Gold finished metal ornament in the form of three cherry blossoms mounted on the ray skin under the tape on each side. Steel scabbard with remnants of paper surrender tag, retains 95 % olive drab paint and exhibits minor age/dents. Clean blade with zigzag temper line length approximately 66 cm.
