One part of the corn flower is represented by the shoot and silks, the other part by the tassel. As is well known, no grain is made unless the pollen of the tassel falls on the silk of the corn. The ears of corn fill much better in a large field than where there are only a few stalks. In the latter case, the pollen is blown off and does not reach the silks.
