Like Kenyon* I at first took him to be abishop, understanding the word Papas in the sameway as in the Christian letter from Rome.^ But Iwas unable to answer the difficult question, whichHermupoUs could then be meant ? Lines 9 and 10would suit neither HermupoUs Magna nor Hermu-polis Parva, the only sees of this name ; such anexpression as we have there could only be used bysomebody who Uved not far from the reside
