Martian landscape. This HiRISE image shows a portion of the 167km-diameter Becquerel Crater, full of ridges and sand dunes. These layers are sedimentary rocks. Many of the layers also light-toned, which suggests an association with hydrated minerals like sulphates. There are also cyclic variations in the layers, owing to different environmental conditions over long periods of time. A unique optimised version of NASA imagery. Credit: NASA/JPL/UArizona
