Swindon, Wiltshire, UK. 28th April 2020. Swindon Borough Council yesterday morning gave permission to its highways team to paint thank you messages on two main roads in the town. The messages, which read ‘THANK YOU KEY WORKERS’ and ‘THANK YOU NHS’, were painted on Queens Drive near the Magic Roundabout and Marlborough Road near the Great Western Hospital. Coun Maureen Penny, Swindon Borough Council’s cabinet member for transport and the environment, is quoted as saying “The ‘thank you’ messages for our NHS staff and key workers are just another way of showing our appreciation for their dedicated and life-saving work during this current coronavirus “I hope the road markings bring a smile to each workers’ face on their drive into work and show them how much we value their huge contributions in these difficult times.” Pictured: Queens Drive.
