Charles Burleigh Hoyt, the son of Benjamin B. andCaroline (Quimby)JHoyt, was born in Sandwich, Decem-. Charles B. Hoyt. PERSONAL AND FARM SKETCHES. 385 ber 12, 1859, ^^^^ ^^^ years has been recognized as aleading citizen, being active!}^ interested in all that per-tains to the welfare of the town. He was graduated fromNew Hampton Institution in 1882 ; taught school severalwinters, and was a member of the school-board for sixyears. When the creamery was started in 1889, he wasone of the prime movers, did much toward its establish-ment, and was a director and clerk of the corporationuntil its sale to private parties in 1894. In politics, he isa Republican, being at the present time one of the select-men, and moderator of the town-meeting. In 95 and96 he was deputy sheriff for Carroll county. He joinedRed Mountain lodge, A. F. and A. M. in 1885, ofwhich he was master twice. In the Grand lodge he wasfor two years R. W. Grand Lecturer for district numbersix, and is now serving his second term as R. deputy grand master for the same district. From the early days of the order of Pat
