Robert Fortenberry assumes responsibility as the senior enlisted leader of the Army Infantry School during a ceremony at the Maneuver Center of Excellence headquarters March 25. The Infantry School trains Soldiers to close with the enemy by means of fire and maneuver in order to destroy or capture them or to repel their assault with fire, maneuver, close combat and counterattack. Robert Fortenberry assumes responsibility as the senior enlisted leader of the Army Infantry School during a ceremony at the Maneuver Center of Excellence headquarters March 25. The Infantry School trains Soldiers to close with the enemy by means of fire and maneuver in order to destroy or capture them or to repel their assault with fire, maneuver, close combat and counterattack. Fortenberry started his Army career in 1990, graduating from One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning. Before coming to Fort Benning as the Infantry School command sergeant major, Fortenberry was the brigade command sergeant major for 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, at Fort Drum, New York. Of his newly assumed position, he said it was an honor to impact servant leadership and to inspire Soldiers to be future leaders in Infantry formations across the Army.
